Hup Holland Hup

Niks gewonnen vandaag (of gisteren eigenlijk) maar toch leuk: vond onderstaand artikel op de website van NBC (wat hier in Amerika de Olympische Spelen uitzendt):

http://www.nbcolympics.com/new/index.html

En hier is de tekst:

"In the stands of Oval Lingotto, the Torino speed skating arena, there's a party going on. It involves a brass band, singing crowds, and a whole lot of orange. It's the Dutch, and they're having a blast.

Speed skating is a national passion in the Netherlands, and the sport's stars are big-time celebrities. So when the Olympics come along and speed skating gets its global moment, the Dutch fans are ready to rock.
They pile into Oval Lingotto dressed in orange, the national color. Orange hats. Orange shirts. Orange flags. Orange clogs. Orange P pretty much anything. They cheer for everyone, with their own skaters getting the loudest support -- the noise follows the skaters around the track like a wave.
When the competition stops for the Zambonis, the party really gets going. The band, Kleintje Pils, plays in the stands throughout the intermission. It's not a concert, it's a love-in. Hundreds of fans sing along at the top of their lungs while the tuba, trumpets, trombones and other instruments blast their way through songs such as "Rolling On A River." The orange horde jumps up and down like fire and the whole arena heats up. For 15 minutes the winning and losing take a backseat to simply having fun.

This is not the first time Kleintje Pils has been at the Olympics -- they were in Salt Lake City -- but Italy is closer to Holland than Utah is, and the fans are out in force in Torino. The pure joy they generate at Oval Lingotto is contagious and may spread. The party continues in Italy for three more days as the women's 1500m and 5000m and men's 10000m races get under way."

Toch leuk! Enne.... nu nog een paar medailles erbij :).
